We currently have no vacancies for paid staff, however we are recruiting volunteers for the befriending service.
Volunteers are our most important asset. At Jigsaw we demonstrate our commitment to our volunteers by providing:
- an friendly environment
- a rewarding opportunity to support those in your local community
- all the training, support and supervision you need to deliver the quality and excellence we are renowned for.
Do you empathise with the challenges faced by people and have a strong desire to help them? Are you sensitive to people’s feelings and do you show them great respect? These are just some of the qualities you’ll need, if you would like to volunteer with Jigsaw.
We are always looking for people who possess these qualities and who take pride in completing every task to the highest standard. Working as a Jigsaw Home Befriender or Group Befriender you’ll be supporting local people who are lonely and isolated- what could be more rewarding?
As a Jigsaw Befriender you’ll be trained and supported throughout your time with us – undergoing a series of initial and ongoing training courses to ensure you are competent and qualified to undertake the tasks which face you.
To enquire about volunteering with Jigsaw, please complete the enquiry form or speak to us informally on 01623 415974.
Please note, official applications will be subject to the relevant DBS checks.
Training and Development
Jigsaw provides in-house training for all volunteers to assist with professional development and to help maintain the quality and exceptional levels of support we provide.
Training is delivered through an internal training programme and by accredited outside providers. You will have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications which will help you in your volunteering with Jigsaw as well as other aspects of your work/home life.
Here at Jigsaw we place a high emphasis on regular supervision of volunteers to enable you to discuss Befriendees and raise any concerns that you might have. We find this is the best way to ensure our volunteers are supported. It’s a policy which has served us well over the last 13 years resulting in happy volunteers and Befriendees.
