Befriending is a free service tackling social isolation and intense loneliness. Jigsaw’s one to one befriending service matches volunteers to those in need of company and friendship. The service is open to anyone over 60 years of age living alone with little or no family contact within the Mansfield and Ashfield areas. If you are feeling lonely and would like some company in your home, this one to one service could be for you. What the volunteer does can vary greatly, it could be playing dominoes, helping with a crossword, reading the newspaper or just having a cup of tea and a chat.
If you are able to get out and would like to join us at a comfortable and relaxed meeting place to sit and chat, make new friends and enjoy a meal together then maybe you will be eligible to join a group befriending session.
We currently have friendly informal pub lunches running regularly, called Jigsaw Friends. A Jigsaw volunteer will meet you at the venue and introduce you to the others. All that matters is that company is provided and isolation is reduced. for more information please contact Cate Bones on 01623 415974 or email her at Cate.Bones@jigsawsupportscheme.org.uk
